Kochi – Alappuzha – Varkala – Thekkady – Munnar – Kochi

Day 1: Kochi → Alappuzha

Distance: ~55–65 km | Drive: ~1.5–2 hours
Overnight: Alappuzha

Arrive at Kochi Airport/Railway Station and meet your driver. Proceed towards Alappuzha (Alleppey), one of Kerala's most famous backwater destinations.

After check-in, spend the afternoon experiencing the tranquil backwaters. Depending on your package, you can enjoy a shikara boat ride, country boat ride or traditional houseboat experience through the network of canals, lagoons and paddy fields.

In the evening, visit Alappuzha Beach and enjoy the sunset.

Day 2: Alappuzha → Varkala

Distance: ~110 km | Drive: ~3–3.5 hours
Overnight: Varkala

After breakfast, check out and drive south towards Varkala.

On arrival, check into the hotel and relax. Later, explore the famous Varkala Cliff, overlooking the Arabian Sea. The cliff area has cafés, restaurants, small shops and viewpoints.

Spend the evening at Varkala Beach, particularly around sunset.

If time permits, visit Janardhana Swamy Temple, an important pilgrimage site near the beach.

Day 3: Varkala → Thekkady

Distance: ~165–180 km | Drive: ~5–6 hours
Overnight: Thekkady

After breakfast, check out and begin the journey towards Thekkady, travelling from Kerala's coastal region into the Western Ghats.

The landscape gradually changes from coastal plains to plantations and forested hills.

Arrive in Thekkady and check in.

In the afternoon/evening, you can choose activities depending on availability and interest:

• One Jungle Safari in the Periyar/Thekkady forest area.
• Spice plantation visit
• Guided nature walk
• Kathakali performance
• Kalaripayattu martial-arts performance
• Local market at Kumily

Day 4: Thekkady → Munnar

Distance: ~90–110 km | Drive: ~3.5–4.5 hours
Overnight: Munnar

Start the day with breakfast.

If you want a morning wildlife/backwater experience, a Periyar boating or other officially available nature activity can be considered, subject to availability. Otherwise, depart directly for Munnar. 

The drive to Munnar is one of the scenic sections of the itinerary, passing through the Western Ghats, forests, waterfalls and plantation areas.

On reaching Munnar, check in and relax.

Depending on arrival time, visit:

• Munnar town
• Tea shops/market
• Tea plantation viewpoints
• Local sunset viewpoint

Day 5: Full-Day Munnar Sightseeing

Overnight: Munnar

After breakfast, proceed for a full day of sightseeing around Munnar.

Mattupetty Dam

Visit Mattupetty Dam, surrounded by green hills and tea plantations. Optional boating can be considered depending on operating conditions.

Echo Point

Continue towards Echo Point, known for its mountain scenery and the natural echo phenomenon.

Kundala Lake

Proceed towards Kundala Lake, where optional boating is available.

Tea Plantations

Drive through Munnar's extensive tea-growing landscapes and stop at suitable viewpoints for photographs.

Eravikulam National Park

If included in the itinerary and open to visitors, visit Eravikulam National Park, famous for its high-altitude grasslands and Nilgiri tahr. Entry and visiting arrangements are subject to park rules and operating conditions.

Return to Munnar by evening.

Day 6: Munnar → Kochi

Distance: ~125–135 km | Drive: ~4–5 hours

After breakfast, check out from the hotel and begin your journey back to Kochi.

Depending on your departure time, you can make short stops along the route.

• Cheeyappara Waterfalls
• Valara Waterfalls
• Spice/tea shops along the route

Continue to Kochi Airport/Railway Station for your onward journey.
